30-year-old Natalia Deacon has been banned from driving for 22 months just weeks after ploughing her Range Rover into a tree in Shanklin whilst more than twice the drink-drive limit.
Deacon, a sales executive of Woodside Avenue in Alverstone Garden Village, appeared before Magistrates this morning (Friday) charged with 1 count of drink driving on 15th April – a charge she pleaded guilty to at the first opportunity.
The court heard from the prosecution that the 30-year-old was enjoying a night out drinking tequila and prosecco with her friend at a pub in Shanklin Old Village. However, things took a turn when Deacon’s ‘hammered’ friend became unwell. Fearing that her friend had been spiked, Natalia took the decision to drive her mate directly to St Mary’s Hospital.
Just a few minutes into the journey, the unnamed female friend became unresponsive. Deacon, paying attention to her friend, then crashed into a tree lining Victoria Avenue, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The vehicle’s airbags were deployed as a result of the impact, with significant front end damage caused. The 4×4 came to a rest side-on across the road.
Defending, Oscar Vincent said his client provided full and frank admissions to the Police – although did give a different account in the first instance. He noted she was of previous good character and previously worked as door staff across the Island.
Mr Vincent also explained that it was his clients intention to collect her car the next day, but the turn in events led her to make the decision to drive.
Addressing the defendant, who blew 85 on the evidential breathalyser, Magistrates said: “what you did that day could have been a lot worse. If there were any pedestrians you could have killed them”.
Magistrates handed Natalia Deacon a 22-month driving ban, fined her £300 and ordered her to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.

I’ve heard some excuses in my time but this one has to rank as one of the worst. How they can have the neck to come out with such a fairy story is beyond me.
What makes it worse is that somebody “pretends” to believe that fairy story because they’re being paid extortionate rates to stand up in court and relay it to the magistrates!
Ali, you need to learn how justice works. The lawyer is NOT paid to believe their story. They are paid to be their advocate. Advocacy means getting support from another person to help you express your views and wishes. The lawyer is there to present your argument in a coherent manor. It is the corner stone of our justice system.
I know how justice works!! And if it worked properly nobody in their right mind morally would “advocate” her story and she’d have got a sentence she deserved
To defend the indefensible, the solicitors must hold competitions for the most outrageous stories.
Frigging throw her to the wolves could have killed many people on her pisshead
Drive
I suppose £10 fine and a slap
Little Miss ‘my shite doesn’t stink’ finally got caught. It’s along way to anywhere from the garden village. Never mind.
Can only be thankful the self entitled cow didn’t kill any innocent people.
Just hope that they don’t have to cut the tree down, it’s looking a bit precarious.
Self entitled stupid cow. I had to laugh with all the bxllshxt excuses. No one believes you, only your tiny little mind. Alcohol and lack of brain cells, dangerous combination!!.
I thought that was what taxi’s and ambulances were for.
Yeah sure whatever Natalie. Tried to lie your way out of it in the first instance and now this BS. As ex door staff you know full well what to do when a spike incident is suspected – and it isnt get in your car pi**ed. Should have been a lifetime ban
Bet you it is not the first time. Just got lucky before.
you can,t park there Madam….
I do not condone the action of this young lady , it could have been much worse so she is lucky she did not kill someone ! However she has been dealt a punishment ! what is more horrifying is to read the vile personal attacks in some of the comments on here. Many people proclaim disgust as to bullying , show passion in helping others with mental health and in such difficult times as to what most people are feeling in the UK , it is disappointing to read the vile comments being left by human beings , the offensive personal insults which are easy to do when someone is sat behind a keyboard ! This is someone’s daughter, maybe sister. #bekind
people like you are what’s wrong with this country sir. could have been someone’s daughter she killed
i hope she lost her job as well as her license!
