Police and paramedics were called to a single vehicle collision involving a Range Rover on a main road in Shanklin overnight.
The incident saw a white Evoque collide with a tree at the side of the carriageway on Victoria Avenue.
2 ambulances and an operational commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were deployed to the scene, alongside local officers from Hampshire Constabulary.
The vehicle’s airbags were deployed as a result of the impact, with significant front end damage caused. The 4×4 came to a rest side-on across the road.
Victoria Avenue was blocked in both directions for a time but the road has since reopened.

A 28-year-old woman, from Shanklin, originally arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink, has been released and will face no further action.
How the heck did that happen?
Island Echo updated the front headline. Both woman, drunk. Fine them heavily and take away the drivers licence for 2 years. Lucky it was only a tree they crashed into. Poor tree!
Stupid bitches.
2 years is not enough need at least 3 year ban so much bad driving over here at the moment and alot of them should not be driving
Sunshine – sounds like a lot of women have rejected you
He’s bloody right people are to soft these days . Their behaviour is disgusting
I always thought that sunshine was a female.
Sorry sunshine.
More old people who can’t drive !
Details are scarce here. Was anyone hurt?
Just one question, how? Did that tree jump out on the car. Shocking. Probably a damn drunken holidaymaker.
says from Sandown and Shanklin
It was two Biches from Shanklin and Sandown..idiot!
That info wasn’t on there when I posted IDIOT !!!
More idiots will be along soon…
Muppetry, plain and simple.
I guess they were too posh to steer
Wannabe wags
2 ambulances and an operational commander ?? For a minor prang. No shortage on the island then. Next time you hear about someone waiting 12 hours for an ambulance don’t be surprised.
One Ambulance for each patient is why there were 2, and thanks to Drunks, 2 valuable resources were deployed, when they could have helped 2 people who were ill through no fault of their own, had the car hit or involved other people more resources would have been required, again all because of two DRUNKS…….
Maximum speed limit 30, looking at the impact damage the driver was way over the speed limit..
If guilty jail them. Anyone hit with that force would be dead
Most Range Rover drivers haven’t got a clue how to drive so no suprises there. They speed like they’re so entitled and with there heads in the clouds who think they own the road, pure arrogance.
4WD for when they drive on the pavement after hitting the curb!!!
Tree 1; range rover nil
Needs the speed camera back only this time an average speed type as people just slow whilst in range of the lens
I hope the tree was undamaged and received treetment from the ambulance service
All that top-of-the-range 4×4 control and still the tree hits it!
I travel along that road regular and those trees jump out at you all the time lol
How can 2 people be charged for under the influence in 1 vehicle? It was a 1 car incident.
Because neither of the vile drink driving chavs involved are ownng up to who was driving – hence the police charging both.
Good…take away their licences
They havent both been charged only one probably after owning up the other was NFA’d ( no further action )
Each claiming the other was driving…….
Possibly both deny driving – or if the driver was using a Provisional Licence then the passenger also has responsibility.
I agree only one person can drive a car what was she doing sitting on her lap …disgrace for an arrogant 4×4 driver lots of money and no brain !!
They haven’t both been charged one of them has
More brilliant Isle of Wight drivers… no insurance payout… !!
So many vehicles also driving around the Island with NO MOT
One car – two drivers? Explanation, please!
Various possibilties. Each might have blamed the other, or said the real driver ran off. Or provisional driver under supervision. Forensics will establish whose face was on the driver’s airbag. And there may be other offences by both women if driver wasn’t insured for that car.
2 drunks and a tree, says it all really.
All the gear and no effing idea. They are arrogant, shallow, low intelligence assholes who should only drive a 1 litre car in the future lol. Of course the usual lengthy ban, big fine etc. They should also do community service planting trees with High Vis Jackets saying convicted drink drivers.
So many people drunk or drug driving now, it appears that the punishment is not enough to deter them.
Jail drink and drug drivers. No excuse and little remorse in many cases. Fines and bans mean zero to these people.
Years ago you used to get stopped by the police if you didn’t indicate or a light wasn’t working now you get away with driving without any respect for anyone else on the road let along drink driving need more police especially around are towns
Need dedicated vehicle checking teams.
Loads of illegal number plates around with illegal spacing, illegal fonts and reflective anti camera coatings. The latter is most sinister as they obviously want to avoid conviction when speeding or committing crime. They need to know they will be caught and dealt with if they flout the law.
Bring back the birch! A tree for a tree!!
Glad it did happen and police involved or they could of went further and killed innocent people throw the book at them
Oh dear Alveston garden Village isn’t she going to be popular. No more afternoon tea parties for her lol
