An elderly couple have been led to safety following a fire at a house in Ventnor this morning (Friday).
Three appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service were called to Downland Cresent shortly after 04:45 following reports of smoke coming from a semi-detached residential property.
Firefighters from Ventnor, Shanklin and Newport attended the incident and wearing breathing apparatus, entered the property and led a male and female to safety before using two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service attended the scene and treated the elderly female for suspected smoke inhalation. She was not conveyed to hospital.
The British Red Cross also attended the scene with their Fire and Emergency Support Vehicle.
