UPDATED: Police and Ambulance crews have this evening attended a fight between two females, which has resulted in one being hospitalised.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Western Gardens on Ryde Esplanade at around 19:30 after receiving reports that two females were involved in a fight, one having been seriously assaulted.
Eye-witnesses have told Island Echo that one female was on the ground covered in blood before being taken by ambulance crews to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
The other unknown female involved in the incident was arrested and placed into the back of a cell van.
The scene was cordoned off for a period of time while investigations took place with five Police vehicles present.
UPDATED: Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of of causing grievous bodily harm.
A 48-year-old woman remains in a stable condition in hospital today (Friday) having suffered facial injuries.
