UPDATED WITH VIDEO: A woman has been airlifted to hospital this afternoon (Saturday) after falling at a secluded East Wight beach.
Emergency services were alerted to a woman having injured herself at Priory Bay near St Helens shortly before 11:30, prompting Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to respond to the scene.
Due to the remote location, the assistance of Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter was requested and airlifted the female to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport at around 12:40.
HM Coastguard are reminding residents and visitors alike to take care whilst enjoying the Island’s coastline this summer and to wear appropriate footwear and other clothing and to be aware of dangers around them, especially in damp conditions such as today.
