We would like to wish all of our readers, advertisers and supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Between now and Tuesday 2nd January 2024 you may see less news from us than normal. This is to allow our team to take a much-needed (and, hopefully, you think well-deserved) break and to recuperate ready for the year ahead. You will still find plenty of new articles being published over the festive period though – including more interesting Island heritage pieces – and we will of course bring you all the latest major breaking news as it happens, albeit perhaps slightly slower than usual. We have once again decided not to publish breaking news on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. By the end of the month, we will have published over 6,400 stories in just 12 months – a new record for our small editorial team. Since 2012, Island Echo has published over 44,000 articles – and they all remain online for viewing free of charge. Commenting on the Island Echo website has now been switched off for the festive period and will return in the New Year, with some exciting changes afoot in January! Watch this space… Don’t forget you can follow our Light up the Wight Christmas Lights tour map and vote for your favourite display until 31st December at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.
