sthelenmooredA crew member on board Wightlink’s St Helen vessel was taken to hospital yesterday (Monday) after being crushed between two vehicles after a driver forgot to apply their handbrake.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth route when a vehicle rolled back, pinning the staff member between two vehicles whilst on the car deck.

The unnamed crewman was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, Portsmouth where examinations took place. He was released from hospital later in the day.

The incident, the second on board St Helen in recent months, resulted in some delays to the service on one of the busiest days of the year for the cross-Solent operator.
