Wightlink has cancelled 6 sailings on its Fishbourne to Portsmouth car ferry service on Monday night (9th January) due to essential work at the Fishbourne terminal.
To allow work to take place to replace a vacuum mooring unit that has been away for service, a number of car ferry sailings have been pulled with just 3 days notice.
The 20:00, 22:00 and 23:59 sailings from Portsmouth Gunwharf have been cancelled alongside the 21:00, 23:00 and 01:00 sailings from Portsmouth.
All customer bookings have been moved to alternative sailings.
To assist with travel, Wightlink has drafted in charter vessels to run extra foot passenger sailings from Portsmouth Harbour at 21:20 and Ryde Pier Head at 22:00.
Wightlink apologises for inconveniencing customers who had intended to use the car ferry on Monday evening.

Why can they not moor up with ropes as they did before, also they must be able to in case of mechanical faults.
Becouse they can do what they want nowdays, as it is not cost effective.
It is no longer a service, especially at this time of year.
Bring back SEALINK. (imo)
They can and they will be, but they need time to remove the cavotec unit. Its not a 5 min job.
