Wight Eagles Academy U15 side were crowned Champions of Hampshire girls Division 2 after a 4-2 victory over runners-up Ringwood Town at the Zilch Waste Stadium (Westwood Park) on Saturday (3rd May).
The Islanders started strongly and went 1-0 up within the first 2 minutes, but Ringwood Town responded quickly to equalise (1-1).
The mainland side then took the lead (1-2) before the Eagles levelled things up just before half-time.
As the teams came out for the second half, the Island side were straight on the attack and quickly retook the lead (3-2)
The game then settled down as Ringwood Town couldn’t cope with the strength and fitness of the Eagles who found the net again shorty before full-time (4-2).
Poppy was the RenoDrain player-of-the-match.

“It’s been an incredible season, and the girls should be very proud.
“I would like to say thank you to Assassin Boxing Gym and Maximus for the hard work and sponsorship.
“Lastly, I want to thank Glen and everyone involved. Well done girls, you truly deserved this.”
Director of football Dan Verstraeten, has said:
“14 months ago we lost our Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer which meant we had to rebuild the structure of the club and the board.
“I can’t thank the staff, coaches, committee, parents and most importantly the players enough for this amazing season, this for me shows our strength and stability as a club and we will push on again next season.”
