Whitepit Lane in Newport has been closed today (Tuesday) to allow Southern Water to undertake repairs.
The road has been closed from its junction with Castle Road to its junction with Chandler Close.
Motorists are being diverted via Cedar Hill, Carisbrooke Road, High Street, Coppins Bridge, St Georges Way and Shide Road. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
The closure came into force around 10:00 this morning.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – Whitepit Lane has now re-opened to all traffic.
It hasn’t stopped some of the idiots trying to drive along the pavement in an effort to get around the roadworks, even though there are signs stating the road is closed !
