WESTRIDGE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS WELL ATTENDED BY OVER 40 MEMBERS LAST WEEKEND

A total of 40 members went into battle for the Westridge Club Championships, which was played in near-perfect conditions and a beautifully presented course on the weekend of the 13th/14th July. Day 1 saw the Scratch Competition lead taken by Zane Cohen, with Martyn Phillips slipping into 2nd and reigning Champion Chris Royal in 3rd with 4 shots separating the 3. The Handicap overnight lead was held by Phil Brennan, with Martyn Phillips second and Chika Abe 3rd. Day 2 saw a close fight in the final group for the Scratch Title, with Zane holding on to take his 1st title by 1 shot from a valiant defence by Chris Royl and Martyn Phillips 3rd. In The Handicap, the overnight leader would fade away and see Martyn Phillips stepping forward to take the title. Chika Abe pinching second from Gordon Debenham on countback.
