2 Isle of Wight teams will be in action in the Wessex League this Saturday (19th October).
In the Wessex Premier League, Cowes Sports – who are currently in 19th position – take on 6th placed Horndean at Westwood Park. The Island side will be without a number of key players due to the wedding of midfielder, Tom Dye.
Manager Steve Rutter has described the game as being “a difficult game against a good side”. However, Rutter believes the absence of players such as Gareth and Ash Brett will provide opportunities for youngsters such as Aiden White and Scott McFarlane.
In Wessex League One, winless and managerless East Cowes Vics, in 19th position, travel to 6th placed Alton. John Simpkins will be taking over as caretaker boss at Vics until a new manager has been appointed.
Midtable Newport, currently in 8th position, are without a fixture this Saturday, but will travel to 16th placed Totton & Eling on Tuesday night, in a game starting at 19:45.
