A duo from North London who were due in court over the theft of cooking oil from businesses on the Isle of Wight failed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday).
Simeon Iliev, 20, of Hertford Road in Enfield, and 45-year-old Milan Stankov of Kirkland Drive in Enfield, were issued a summons to appear on the Island on Tuesday, however, they failed to show.
It was alleged that the pair – donned in hi-vis vests – went around the Island collecting cooking oil from various establishments, sometimes entering closed premises without permission.
They have both been charged with the following:
- Theft of used cooking oil from The Fighting Cocks pub on 28th October 2022.
- Attempted theft of used cooking oil from The Chequers Inn on 28th October 2022.
- Theft of used cooking oil from the Culver Haven Inn on 28th October 2022.
- Theft of used cooking oil from The Yarbridge Inn on 28th October 2022.
- Theft of used cooking oil from The Duck in Ryde on 28th October 2022.
- 5 counts of fraud by false representation in which it’s alleged that they dishonestly purported to represent official oil collection agents in order to obtain the oil.
As a result of their no-show, arrest warrants have been issued for both men.

Well who’d have thought it, criminal immigrants, surely not.
You really could,nt make it up..i see they are no brits then ..and they thought they would turn up to get zero punishment..what ajoke..next..
I honestly don’t see the problem with people picking up used cooking oil to use in a diesel engine car.
If they had asked the establishments I’m sure some would be glad to get rid of it to save paying for collection.
Waste of taxpayer’s money IMHO
Businesses are paid for used cooking oil. They stole it to sell it.
There are very few establishments (if any) that don’t sell their used cooking oil these days. The days of it being a smelly nuisance disappeared as soon as it was found to be ok to run a diesel engine with just a fine filtering. These guys targeted the Island thinking it was an easy target, oops!
Most cooking oils are distinctly damaging, over time, to human health, even those from ‘higher-end’ eateries.Highly refined and lacking any nutritional value Canola, sunflower, peanut, cotton seed etc, are all horrendously unhealthy, so double using will make them much worse.
Only the expensive oils such as coconut, hemp and avocado are suitable and they’re not generally utilised for mechanical engine lubrication purposes unlike the above mentioned.
‘Horrendously unhealthy’ CD? Stats and examples please. Or don’t you have any to base such a swingeing opinion on? Thought not.
This is the result you get when you give low life criminals bail. An ideal oppertunity to do a runner. Criminals should be jailed until their case comes to court, but instead, the do gooders insist they have a right to bail. Good system eh!
Really think they will be found
Living anywhere now in the UK,not alone London, the cps must off known they wouldn’t turn up for court
