The Isle of Wight Dubbers are continuing their new monthly drive-out on 29th March, with aims to bring the Volkswagen community together while supporting local businesses.
The group’s initiative is focused on enjoying a relaxed cruise around the Island before finishing at a local venue to help boost footfall and income outside of the peak season.
Participants will meet at Seaclose Park from 11:00, before rolling out at 11:30 for a convoy cruise taking in seafront views, including Shanklin and Sandown. The drive will finish at Browns Café in Yaverland.
Browns Café will be providing a live DJ for the afternoon to help create a welcoming atmosphere for both Dubbers and members of the public.
Food and drinks will be available to purchase. with attendees being encouraged to book tables directly with the café due to expected demand.
Local businesses Wight 3D and Wight Vinyl will also be set up inside Browns Café, selling Isle of Wight Dubbers and Volkswagen-related merchandise.
Last month’s first drive-out concluded at Café Verdi at Fort Victoria, where 43 vehicles attended. The café saw queues out of the door, creating what organisers described as a brilliant atmosphere and a welcome boost for the business.
Kate Lewis, from Isle of Wight Dubbers, has said:
“We’re really proud of the community we’ve built. These drive-outs aren’t about racing or showing off – they’re about bringing people together, enjoying our beautiful Island responsibly, and giving something back to local businesses.
“Seeing 43 vehicles turn up last month and the café buzzing was incredible. If we can help create that kind of atmosphere for Island venues once a month, then we’re doing something right.”
The event is open to all Volkswagen vehicles, is family-friendly, free to attend and focused on safe, respectful cruising.
