A trio of Isle of Wight volunteers have raised an impressive £715 for Home-Start IOW after hosting a successful 1-day plant sale, raffle and afternoon of refreshments in Yarmouth.
Angie, Ali and Gina – who all volunteer with Home-Start IOW – organised the fundraising event at Gina’s home in Norton, welcoming around 60 visitors.
Guests enjoyed homemade cakes and refreshments in the garden while browsing a wide selection of plants and handcrafted items, with all proceeds going to the charity.
The trio also held a raffle featuring prizes donated by businesses in Freshwater and Yarmouth, including a bottle of whisky.
Alison Griffiths, scheme manager for Home-Start IOW, attended the event and praised the support shown by the local community.
Angie, Ali and Gina also thanked their families, whose help with setting up and running the raffle and plant sale contributed to the day’s success.
Home-Start IOW provides confidential, non-judgemental support to families facing difficult circumstances and currently helps around 160 families across the Isle of Wight who may have nowhere else to turn.
