The Isle of Wight’s 2 Wessex Premier League representatives, East Cowes Victoria and Cowes Sports, have been drawn against each other in the first round of the Wessex League Cup.
The game will take place at Beatrice Avenue, with the date yet to be confirmed.
Last season, the Yachtsmen did the double over Vics, beating them on penalties in the Hampshire Senior Cup after a 3-3 draw at Beatrice Avenue in September, then beating them again in the final of the Isle of Wight Senior ‘Gold’ Cup by a 2-1 margin at Westwood Park in May.
This Saturday (28th June), East Cowes Vics hope to spruce up their Beatrice Avenue ground in preparation for the new season.
Vics Club Day begins at 11:00. The club have said:
“Calling all local community members and fans. We need your help to get our ground ready for an exciting Wessex Premier League season.
“Whether you’re a whizz with a paintbrush or have a knack for general repairs, we’ve got plenty of jobs to tackle, from clearing overgrown hedges in the car park to giving our walls a fresh coat of paint.
“If any businesses would like to bring some real professionalism to the party, we’ll discuss what we can offer in return for your services, such as advertising banners. Club committee members and playing staff will be on hand, and we’ll have food and refreshments waiting for you. Plus, enjoy a subsidised bar that will open after the hard work is done.
“Bring your tools and equipment and let’s roll up our sleeves and show our new Wessex Premier League counterparts what were made of.”
