VENTNOR RESIDENTS TO GO TO THE POLLS JUST DAYS BEFORE XMAS

A by-election will be held just days before Christmas to fill a gap on the Isle of Wight Council — and the 1st candidate has thrown their hat into the ring. Following the resignation of Ventnor and St Lawrence councillor, Gary Peace, at the end of October, a new representative is needed. Enough people have now called for a by-election, that the Isle of Wight Council is putting the wheels in motion. If more than 1 candidate comes forward to fill the vacant seat, the by-election will be held on Thursday 21st December. Those wishing to stand have until Friday 24th November at 16:00 to return their nomination papers, which can be found here: iwc.iow.gov.uk/documentlibrary/download/nomination-paper-pack-ventnor-and-st-lawrence The 1st candidate to come forward is local businessman and operator of Ventnor Haven Management, Ed Blake, for the Conservatives. Hoping to fill the former Tory seat, Mr Blake said he believes the ward needs a councillor who has lived there for their whole life, understands the priorities of local people and who can be a strong and effective voice on their behalf.
