A Ventnor paedophile will learn his fate at the Crown Court after being caught with more than 8,000 indecent images of children.
Nicholas Phipps, 69, of Trinity Road in Ventnor, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday to enter a plea to a number of offences including 3 charges of possession of indecent images and 2 charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Phipps pleaded guilty to all 5 charges – described as ‘extremely serious offences’ by Crown Prosecutor Leah Dillon.
The court heard basic details of the matter including how many images were found in Phipps’ possession; 558 of Category A, 1,134 of Category B and 7,048 of Category C. The images were discovered by Police in April 2023.
It was said that the 69-year-old breached the Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) in place against him by owning a device capable of accessing the internet and possessing a device capable of storing digital images which he then did not make available for inspection by Police.
The SHPO was put in place back in June 2017.
The case was deemed too serious to be dealt with by Magistrates and therefore was adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 21st March.
Phipps has been granted unconditional bail until that time.

He needs to go down for a very long time. Sick creature
What is it with the older generation these days
It is not only the older generation these days. As in a previous entry in these pages, their was a similar case with a young bloke. I say to give them all a suspended sentence, preferably, by the neck, the filthy bastards.
