A proposed new day care facility for dogs in Ventnor has attracted support from residents.
Ventnor Town Council (VTC) and Mrs E Bush approve of Suzanne Wright’s change of use application for Guido Designs Unit 3, a workshop in the Ventnor Industrial Estate on Ventnor’s Old Station Road.
The ‘Wright Zone Doggy Day Care’ unit would have main play and enrichment, calm and comfy and isolation areas along with storage space, an office and a reception.
Its opening times would be between 07:30am and 18:00 from Monday to Friday, 08:00 and 17:00 on Saturdays and from 10:00 and 16:00 on Sundays or bank holidays.
The business would employ one full time employee, according to Ms Wright’s application form.
VTC sent County Hall a letter of support for the bid, with a spokesperson saying this was on the condition that vehicle movement is ‘staggered’.
Mrs Bush meanwhile described the proposal as a ‘great idea’.
She said:
“We need more things like this on the south side of the Island. The industrial estate is a good location because it’s mostly business units so any noise from the dogs won’t really impact residents.
“We live just around the corner and have no issues with a business like this being close by.”
The Isle of Wight Council’s public consultation on proposal 25/01551/FUL closed on 5th December and a decision has been scheduled for 25th December.
