From Ventnor to the Isle of Wight Pearl — an Island beauty salon is to be on the move to pastures new as business continues to grow.
Fabulash – currently based on Pier Street in Ventnor – is on the move and plans to expand to a former holiday chalet and office space on Military Road.
A planning application has been submitted, by owner, Kay Gower, to change the use of retail and leisure complex space in Brighstone into a beauty and hair salon.
If the change of use is granted for the empty building, by the Isle of Wight Council, the salon is expected to move in by the summer.
No external changes are proposed, apart from general maintenance.
Only cosmetic interior changes are planned.
The beauty salon has proposed opening hours varying across the week but would be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
You can view the plans, 22/00829/FUL, on the council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 29th July.

Good luck with this new expansion,
as i am sure that the good ladies of this fair Isle need all the help that they can get.
Cheeky!! (but funny). Along way to go though.
I hope their clients don’t mind the extra drive and it’s not the most inviting place mid February when it’s freezing cold and hammering it down.
They no longer take cash at the Pearl Centre.
I have now stopped going there because of this.
I had been visiting the Pearl Centre for over 30 years
“Never again” unless they take cash again.
Has this got anything to do with the opening of the beauty salon, apart from the fact it is near the Pearl Centre?
I wish them luck but with the Island mentality who on earth is going to travel all that way to get your nails and eye lashes done? Hardly any Islanders go to the Pearl Centre. You have got to stay in a town area for this type of business.
I’d go to Freshwater for a hair do from Katie Prosser. And then have a coffee afterwards! Perfect
Can’t see the business sense in this, unless they want to sheer sheep.
I’m guessing none of the people who commented about the drive know anything about going to a good beauty technician, if you have a good one then you stay loyal to them and travel the distance, there’s so many awful ones out there it’s unbelievable
I’m guessing they have a good following to want to move to Brighstone and feel that their customers will go with them
Good luck to them
Unfortunately these days it’s about costs and convenience
I am sure existing customers are all looking forward to the move. Apart from the excellent service that is provided by Kay and her staff the added attraction is the fact that there will be free easy parking which is almost non existent in Ventnor and then the opportunity to have a coffee etc: afterwards should you so wish.
Good luck to her and her staff.
What an utterly bizarre choice of location. Cant see it working out sadly…..
There is an excellent salon in Brighstone, a free car park and lovely shops and places for a coffee. Good luck to the new salon, but I can’t imagine them getting much passing trade. I don’t think ‘walk ins ‘ will be an option.
