Vectis RFC’s Under-12s produced a spirited and disciplined display against a physical New Milton side despite suffering a narrow 3–2 defeat.
The young Islanders travelled to face New Milton RFC and were praised by coaches for a marked improvement on the previous week’s performance, particularly in defence and work rate.
Tries from Juke and George kept the contest finely balanced, but it was Vectis’ defensive resilience that stood out. The squad maintained a strong, organised defensive line and showed real tenacity, even after being stretched by two injuries sustained during the match.
That determination carried through into the post-match small-sided training games, which were played at a high tempo and featured a number of standout individual performances from the Vectis players.
Volunteer and Coaches Information Day details announced
Off the pitch, Vectis RFC is continuing to build momentum with a Volunteer and Coaches Information Day, taking place at Network Ryde on Saturday 7th February, from 10:00 to 12:00.
The relaxed, no-pressure event is open to anyone interested in supporting the club, from experienced coaches and former players to parents and newcomers with no previous rugby experience. Attendees will have the chance to meet committee members, learn about volunteering roles and discover how the club supports young people aged 5 to 18 across the Isle of Wight.
Vectis RFC provides full training and ongoing support for volunteers, with refreshments available on the day. Those interested can get in touch via social media or simply turn up on the morning for a chat and a cup of tea.
