Vectis RFC’s Under 13s booked their place in the Plate Final after producing a determined 6–4 win over a powerful Winchester side in the semi-final.
The Under 13s at Vectis RFC showed real resilience in challenging conditions, recovering after falling behind early to Winchester’s size and physicality.
As the match developed, the Islanders grew in confidence, combining strong teamwork with composure and clinical finishing to edge a tight contest.
Tom Saunders led the scoring with a hat-trick, supported by two tries from Billy Young and one from Finley Stevens.
Jasper Branston was named man of the match, with the award selected by the Winchester coaching team in recognition of his all-round performance.
The Vectis coaching staff praised the collective effort of the squad, highlighting the grit and determination shown throughout the semi-final as the key factor in securing a place in the Plate Final.
Elsewhere at the club, wet weather disruption also saw the Under 9s’ scheduled trip to Eastleigh cancelled, with conditions once again impacting youth fixtures across the weekend.
