Freshwater Bay Golf Club has been left badly scarred after vandals rode motorbikes and suspected e-bikes across prepared greens yesterday (Sunday).
The damage was discovered following reports that motorbikes – and possibly electric bikes – had been seen tearing across the course.
A club volunteer headed up in an attempt to stop those responsible in the act, but by the time they arrived the culprits had fled – leaving behind churned turf and deep tyre tracks across what had been carefully prepared ground.
Those behind the destruction have been branded “mindless morons”, with the incident described as a “big kick in the teeth” for those who have worked tirelessly in recent weeks to get the course into prime condition ahead of the upcoming season.
The course had been taking beautiful shape and was said to be excelling in readiness for competitive play, making the damage all the more upsetting for members and volunteers.
It comes just weeks after vandals on electric bikes caused significant damage to Godshill’s Central Mead playing field at the start of February, fuelling concerns about a growing pattern of reckless behaviour across the Island.
Club officials are now hopeful that footage from the clubhouse CCTV system may help identify those responsible.
Despite the setback, repairs are already being arranged. The damaged areas are expected to be mended as soon as possible, with hopes the course will be restored to full health within a week.
Golfers have been asked for patience in the meantime – and to forgive any temporary disruption to their line of putt.

Well ban the chavs and feral brats from having electric bikes then, and if the do gooders and hand wringers try to interfere tell them to piss off. Someone needs to grow a pair and get control over these low life scum bags ruining other people’s quality of life FFS
They need conscripting into the army, they will never be any
good left to roam the streets.
Once a wrong”un, always a wrong’un.
If you were a serious soldier, would you want any of these idiot scum at your side or behind you with a SLR. I think that they should be used for target practice, but there again, what a waste of good ammo.
Conscript teenagers into the army because they vandalised grass? That’s not law and order, that’s fantasy punishment. The military isn’t a dumping ground for people you’re angry at, it’s a professional force. Criminal damage should be dealt with by actual laws, not slogans.
These scooters should be banned and crushed.
STOP THEIR PARENTS BENEFITS PAYMENTS IF CAUGHT!
We need more law and order, islandwide CCTV and
Facial recognition to catch such culprits.
You can catch this vermin continually, but what does the law do, a big fat NOTHING.
Crushing scooters and stopping parents’ benefits doesn’t fix vandalism, it just punishes people who may have nothing to do with it. And islandwide facial recognition over tyre tracks on a golf course is wildly disproportionate. Hold the individuals responsible, yes. But collective punishment and surveillance overreach isn’t “strength,” it’s overreaction.
Low life feral scum bought up by drug piss head, deadhead parents these all on benefits never work..No punishment from the state so they will do again and again…
We need more law on the streets.
Electric bikes and scooters should be banned on the
island, they cause nothing but trouble.
