UPDATED: A van has overturned and smashed into a wall on Appley Lane/East Hill Road in Ryde tonight (Sunday).
Two fire appliances from the nearby Ryde Fire Station and paramedics are attending the scene having been alerted to the incident at just before 21:45.
UPDATE @ 22:30 – One adult male was feared trapped, however he has managed to get out of the vehicle without any serious injuries prior to the arrival of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service.
Police have closed the road in both directions from the junction of Alexandra Road to Marlborough Road.
UPDATE: The road has now reopened following the recovery of the vehicle.
*It was initially reported that the vehicle was a Police van. Although it was the type of vehicle and is displaying chevrons, Island Echo have now confirmed the vehicle belongs to a private company
