Westridge Golf Club’s Ryder Cup-style weekend ended in a narrow victory for Team USA, who retained the title by just a single point.
Led by Co-Vice Captains Barbara Sleap (Europe) and Mark Royl (USA), the competition began on Saturday (20th September) with 9 holes of Foursomes followed by 9 holes of Greensomes. USA held a slim 10-9 lead at the end of the day.
Sunday’s singles matches were equally tight, with USA edging out Europe 17½ to 15½ to secure the overall win and hold onto the trophy.
Jill Prouten was named Europe’s Player of the Weekend, while Reg Miller earned the honour for Team USA. Nearest the Pin went to Nikki Glasgow (Ladies) and Roger Merrifield (Men). The Longest Drive winners were Helen Whittaker for the Ladies and Mark Royl for the Men.
