Isle of Wight athlete Charlotte Fisher has secured an impressive 3rd place finish at the Serra de Tramuntana 100-mile race in Mallorca, part of the international UTMB series.
The ultra-endurance runner, who lives and trains on the Isle of Wight, completed the challenging mountain course in under 20 hours – a remarkable achievement that saw her finish well ahead of her target time and maintain a top-three position throughout the event.
Fisher, 1 of 12 national winners of the Snap Fitness Grassroots to Greatness athletic grant, was ranked 10th going into the race but delivered a bold and confident performance on what is widely considered one of Spain’s toughest ultra-running routes.
Charlotte has said:
“I’m over the moon with my result.
“Racing alongside world-class athletes gave me a huge boost in confidence, and to deliver a performance like this just two years into my running journey feels incredibly meaningful.
“The race also held real personal significance for me; I watched the sunrise over the mountains where I scattered my late aunt’s ashes. Carrying that memory with me really powered me on.”
This international podium follows a standout summer for Fisher, during which she became the first woman to complete both the Ultra Trail Snowdonia 100 and the Lakeland 100 in a single season – two of the most challenging ultra events in the UK.
Her running journey began in 2023 when she took part in a 106km charity run around the Isle of Wight in memory of her aunt. Despite having no previous running background, she won the event, sparking a rapid progression in the sport.
She has credited the Snap Fitness Grassroots to Greatness programme for helping her advance further in the sport, providing essential support for travel and training.
Fisher is now preparing for her next major race, the Arc of Attrition in January – a 100-mile challenge around the South-West coast known for its brutal winter conditions and long hours of darkness. She will also be using the race to raise funds for local wildlife charity Skippers Sanctuary.
