shanklincollisionUPDATED: Two vehicles have collided in Shanklin this morning prompting the attendance of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews were called to the scene on Landguard Road near to The Co-Operative shortly after 08:00 following reports that a van and car had collided.

UPDATED @ 09:20 – A White Renault Twingo and a White Renault Traffic van have collided at the junction of Falcon Cross and Landguard Road, blocking the carriageway.

Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have also attended the incident and are checking over a mother and her baby.

Firefighters have made the scene safe and are awaiting recovery of the vehicles.

This latest incident follows a spate of road traffic collisions in the area in recent weeks, especially on the four junctions surrounding the local convenience store.

No one has been seriously injured in the collision and firefighters have not had to free anyone from their vehicles.
