TURNBULL FINED £40 AFTER BEING FOUND WITH 285 XANAX PILLS IN HIS POSSESSION

A Newport man found in possession of 285 Xanax tablets has been fined £40 by the courts. Harry Turnbull, 31, of Pyle Street in Newport, admitted possessing a Class C controlled drug when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19th December. Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that on 2nd September last year Police were called to reports of an incident involving Turnbull. At the scene, he was arrested and searched, where a large bag of 285 Xanax pills was found in his possession. Originally arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, Turnbull admitted that the pills – which had a rough street value of around £570 – were his and for his personal use only. The hearing of the case was delayed due to staff sickness and other Police investigations taking priority. Defending Turnbull, Barry Arnett told that court that at the time of the incident he had hit ‘rock-bottom’ and was taking copious amounts of drugs. Turnbull previously appeared on Island Echo in December 2022 after he was ordered to pay a mega compensation fee for smashing up cars in a drunken rampage. He has also spent the majority of this year in prison before being released in November 2023. Turnbull was fined a total of £40 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £16 surcharge fee.
