Firefighters have extinguished a tumble dryer fire at a property in Swanmore, Ryde tonight (Thursday).
1 appliance from Ryde Fire Station was mobilised to the residential address on Pitt Street at just before 21:00 following reports of smoke issuing from a tumble dryer.
The property owner removed the domestic appliance into the rear garden ahead of the arrival of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, who then dowsed the machine using a hose reel.
It is thought an electrical fault may have sparked the call out.
No one has been injured in the incident and fire crews have left the scene.
