Popular Island company Tyres of Wight have announced their closure with dozens taking to social media to thank them for their hard work and to wish them well for the future.
In an emotional post on social media, Chris from Tyres of Wight explained the reasoning behind the decision:
“We think this is the right time to say our goodbye! Family is so important and I have missed out so much due to the hours I work and I’m not getting younger.”
“I started tyre fitting at the age of 15 and have absolutely loved every minute of it. I have met some amazing people along the way and some even more amazing people whilst working on the Island! Your support has been truly humbling.”
Chris now plans to renew his CPC licence and go back to lorry driving which he hopes will give him more time with his family, which is soon to include a new baby daughter.
Tyres of Wight have helped hundreds over the years including emergency services on the Island such as the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat as well as charities such as West Wight Men in Sheds and everyone in between.
