FURTHER TRAVEL DISRUPTION DUE TO FOGGY CONDITIONS

UPDATED: For the third day running Islanders are facing travel disruption on the roads and on cross-Solent routes. 

Hovertravel are currently operating a shuttle service between Ryde and Southsea, with departures occurring as frequently as possible.

Meanwhile the ice is preventing Island Line trains running between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier Head. It I should hoped the situation will improve by 08:00.

Wightlink services from Fishbourne and Yarmouth are delayed due to the severe foggy conditions, whilst the Ryde-Portsmouth catamaran is operating a 1-boat shuttle service due to a mechanical problem. Sailings are leaving Ryde Pier ahead at XX:47.

Red Funnel’s Red Jet is operating a 2-boat shuttle service with extended journey times.

On the roads, a car is reported to have been involved in a road traffic incident on Middle Road bar Tapnell Farm. Police are in attendance however the road remains open.

UPDATE @ 07:52 – Island Line have confirmed that trains are now running a full service to Ryde Pier Head.

Meanwhile on the roads, it is understood a car has come to rest on its roof on the Whitwell to Ventnor road, close to the rugby club.

UPDATE @ 08:23 – Wightlink’s Yarmouth-Lymington route is now operating on a trip-by-trip basis.

UPDATE @ 08:54 – Wightlink have now suspended their Yarmouth-Lymington car ferry service as a result of the thick fog.

In Chale, a car has rolled and come to rest in a field lining the carriageway. The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending.

UPDATE @ 11:09 – With the fog now lifting across the Island, Hovertravel have resumed their ‘normal’ revised timetable.

Wightlink’s Yarmouth-Lymington route is now operating, but some delays are to be expected. The company’s catamaran service is now running a normal service.
