UPDATED: Island Line train services have been suspended at St John’s Station in Ryde this afternoon (Monday) following loss of power and smoke coming from the lead carriage.
Passengers were evacuated from the train after smoke was seen to be coming from the front of the train, coupled with a loss of power.
Due to the incident, the Island’s train service between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin has been suspended until further notice.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – Southern Vectis have confirmed they will accept train tickets on Routes 2 & 3 Ryde to Shanklin until a normal train service is resumed.
UPDATE @ 17:10 – At 17:00 it was understood the trains were running once again.
