Flying medics from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have touched down in a children’s play park in Northwood this afternoon (Saturday) in a bid to save the life of a local resident.
The air ambulance – a service funded wholly by charitable donations – landed at the Venner Avenue Rec at just gone 16:00 in response to what is understood to be a cardiac arrest at a nearby property on Wroxall Close.
It’s thought to be the first time the air ambulance has landed on the residential estate.
Specialist doctors and paramedics have joined blue light colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, which has deployed an ambulance, critical care paramedic and an operational commander to the scene.
The female patient is now set to be flown directly to a mainland hospital for further treatment, have received pre-hospital, life-saving intervention.
UPDATE @ 17:17 – The air ambulance has transferred the critically-ill patient to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
