The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) has awarded Sandown Airport with the Pooleys Sword, ranking the Isle of Wight airport as the best in the UK.
The award was presented by Tim Pooley, Chairman of the AOPA, at last weekend’s Private Flyer show at Wycombe Air Park.
Dan Subhani of Sandown Airport has said:
“This is yet more fantastic news for the Island and something to be very proud of – it’s sure to bring many more visitors to the Island by air and will continue to add to the Island’s tourist economy”.

Taking the dog over the runway footpath, it has to stop for no 2’s. Been lucky so far.
He Wont be the only one taking a number 2 if a plane comes in to land il bet!
Great news but it needs a better bar/food establishment like it use to have for Pilots and public it has great potential just needs better facilities for the staff who do their best in limited facility
Seriously ! Have you been down their lately . It has everything you could possibly want .
