The Isle of Wight College has proudly announced that its on-site training restaurant has been awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating following a recent inspection.
The top rating – the highest possible – reflects the College’s and its catering team’s strong commitment to food safety, cleanliness and professional standards.
The restaurant is run by students under the supervision of experienced staff, giving learners invaluable hands-on experience in a real hospitality setting.
Restaurant Manager, Mark Avis, has said:
“We’re incredibly proud to receive this 5-star rating. It’s a fantastic recognition of the hard work and dedication shown by our students and staff every day.
“Maintaining high standards is central to everything we do, and this result reflects our shared commitment to providing a safe, professional, and welcoming experience for all our guests.”
The College welcomes members of the public to dine at the training restaurant and experience the high-quality food and service delivered by its catering students.
The Isle of Wight College operates a fully licensed restaurant every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for lunch, offering a four-course table d’hôte menu for £12.50 per person, prepared and served entirely by students under the guidance of head chef Mike and restaurant manager Mark.
From January 2026, students will also be introducing themed lunches, including Greek, Irish and Middle Eastern cuisine.
