Foggy conditions which have shrouded Cowes Harbour and The Solent have led to the suspension of Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry services this morning (Monday).
Minimum visibility limits, set by Cowes Harbour Commission, mean that Red Funnel is unable to safely operate its East Cowes-Southampton service.
Red Falcon is currently holding off just outside the harbour entrance until the weather improves. Meanwhile, Red Osprey remains in port at Southampton.
An update is expected at 09:00 but there is no guarantees services will resume at that time, with delays likely to impact operations throughout the day.
The hi-speed Red Jet service to and from West Cowes is still running, albeit with delays of around 15 minutes.
All other cross-Solent services are running to timetable.

There are too many boats in the harbour and there are more to come. Well done Red Funnel for coming across, sorry the Island yachting is taking up too much room and you might scratch their boats.
What a grey day!, anyone would think
Reform are coming to the island, even the
weather is awake to what’s going on.
Lol
So Red Funnel now own the St.Clare????
I was on East Cowes esplanade at around 2.30 pm and, by using a vessel tracking app, I was able to see a Red Funnel vehicle ferry come from off Gurnard round to the entrance to Cowes Harbour (where visibility was was quit reasonable) and then proceed to its berth.
So one service can run, but not the other? Red Funnel – You are a disgrace
