The Willows in Newport has been from its junction with Sylvan Drive, for a distance of 11 metres.
This is to enable Southern Water to carry out emergency repairs.
The diversion will affect these streets: The Willows, Maple Drive, Newport Footpath 47, Sylvan Drive
Diversion route(s) will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
The closure was put in place at 13:30 hours on 5th June 2020 and will remain in place for a maximum period of five days or until works are completed, whichever is sooner.

Isn’t it about time that Southern Water AND SSE both admitted that their aged infrastructure is on it’s knees and, instead of this continual round of ‘random’ road closures admit that they have neglected their systems actually made a concerted (and heaven forbid) co-ordinated programme of infrastructure replacement.
I have lost count of the numerous times there have been emergency works from both of these utility providers. Mind you, gas and telecoms are not much better!
