The Blenheim in Ventnor has announced it will close its doors later this month, citing rising costs and significant building repairs as the reason for the decision.
The High Street pub confirmed in a statement shared on social media that it will cease trading on Monday 16th March.
It’s said that the team has made the ‘incredibly difficult decision’ to close for the foreseeable future, stating:
“Due to the ongoing challenges of rising costs and significant building repairs, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close for the foreseeable future.
“We are so proud of what we have built here and of the amazing community that has supported us every step of the way. The friendships, the laughter, the live music, the match days and the memories made within these walls will always mean the world to us.”
The team described the closure as not being the outcome they had hoped for and reflected on the community support they have received.
Staff have also been recognised in the statement, with the team saying they are especially thinking of their ‘wonderful staff’ who have worked hard and ‘given so much heart’ to the pub.
The Blenheim Team has said:
“We want to say a sincere thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, supported events, shared a drink with friends, or simply popped in to say hello. You have been the reason The Blenheim has been what it is.
“We will continue to trade until 16th March and would love to see as many of you as possible before then. Let’s make these final weeks ones to remember.”

What a lovely old building though. I hope someone protects it and finds a profitable use for it. Please don’t bulldoze it and build a monstrosity in it’s place.
