One of the Isle of Wight’s worst offenders, Warren Russell, has appeared in court once again – this time for stealing a trolley load of goods from Tesco to the value of £634.
Russell, currently serving at His Majesty’s pleasure at HMP Winchester, but of High Street, Ventnor, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 29th July charged with theft from a shop.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to the single charge, which related to an incident on 18th May this year.
The court heard from Crown Prosecutor Lauren McConnell that at around 10:10 that morning, Russell entered Tesco Extra in Ryde and filled a trolley with various items, including perfumes and electronics. He then left the store without paying – but was identified by shop workers.
Russell is no stranger to the courts having been convicted 75 times for a staggering 243 offences. He is currently serving a 10-month sentence for theft – but this offence, which predates that conviction, could not be married up to the earliest court dates.
Magistrates ordered Warren Russell to pay £400 compensation, adding to the £3418 that he already owes the courts.
Warren Russell is due for release on 2nd October this year.

I don’t get it. This guy has been convicted 75 times for 243 offences, but will be out in October. Yet, Lucy Connolly received a three-year jail sentence for stating an opinion in a tweet.
I bet that once this guy is released from prison, he will be back stealing.
The current judicial system is broken.
That’s because Lucy Connolly is a direct threat to society. She wasn’t convicted for tweeting, she was convicted for inciting racial hatred. Calling for all asylum seekers to be set fire to is not free speech, it’s vigilant violence.
Don’t even dare to put this bloke, who’s never raised a hand, verbally or otherwise to another human being in the same sentence.
In this instance though you’re right about the system; she should be in jail for the next 10 years, he should never have been jailed in the first place. He steals to get INTO jail because he’s poor and homeless. It would cost far, far less to house him and give him dole money to live on.
If the government owned Tesco the guy would never see freedom. They don’t, so they don’t care. The political class is terrified that the proles will finally rise up against their greed and incompetence so they crack down on free speech and police the internet while criminals are left to get on with it.
So long as the victims are just the public and so long as politics is just a route to self-elevation for those with connections but modest means, and a jolly game for those fresh out of Eton, nothing will change.
The country is not the country it used to be.

This looser is choosing to make this lifestyle his career, it’s probably down to drugs & addictions, yet the money ploughed into people who are (let’s face it) never going to amount to anything but take take take from Society makes my blood boil, there are plenty of decent people around trying to survive in this world who don’t choose to steal & go without but he’s not one of them. Choices & Consequences idiot.
