TESCO SHOPPERS TO SEE MAJOR CHANGES TO CLICK+COLLECT

It’s all change at Tesco Extra in Ryde as the supermarket giant introduces a new way to click and collect groceries. Since the introduction of the Click+Collect facility around 10 years ago, shoppers have driven to a canopy at the far end of the car park to collect their orders from a delivery van. Those opting for the collection service will soon have to drive into 1 of 4 bays at the front of the store, nearest to the delivery yard. New signage has been erected to point drivers in the right direction but covered up until the new system goes live. It’s understood that shoppers will have to input a code which will prompt backroom staff to then bring out the shopping from inside the store. The move has resulted in the loss of 4 parent & child bays. One of the other major changes to hit Isle of Wight shoppers is the reduction in the Click+Collect time slot window, from 2 hours to 1 hour. Island Echo is told that some staff face a pay cut as the job will no longer entail any element of driving. It’s unknown when the new way of clicking and collecting will become operational.
