Officers investigating a series of thefts in Freshwater have charged a teenage boy.
The 14-year-old, from Freshwater, was charged last night (Sunday 11th June) with the following offences:
- 2 counts of theft, relating to a drink, alcohol and a sandwich stolen from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 23th April this year.
- Criminal damage to a window at Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 25th April this year.
- 2 counts of theft, relating to a chocolate bar and energy drinks stolen from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 22nd May this year.
- 3 counts of theft, relating to energy drinks, chocolate bars and biscuits stolen from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 23rd May this year.
- Theft of chocolate bars from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 25th May this year.
- Theft of chocolate bars from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 3rd June this year.
- Theft of chocolate bars from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 9th June this year.
- 2 counts of theft, relating to chocolate bars stolen from Sainsbury’s on School Green Road on 10th June this year.
He has been bailed with conditions to appear at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on 5th July.

If the staff of Sainsburys were aware after the first theft, why allow him back in all those times? Not excusing his behaviour though, make the little light fingered idiot stand outside the shop holding a placard ‘ I AM A THIEF’ every weekend for 6 months. Probably just the tip of the iceberg, he’s likely been stealing in all sorts of other places.
Staff would be at risk if tried to physically stop him, he would either cry alleging they assaulted him or would wreck some stuff. We are lucky Police even followed up and CPS, they usually won’t respond shop lifting.
This lad needs sorting now or few years time he will be out of control and a menice to his community for rest of his life .All those in Court roundup started their life of crime as kids.
This is the problem all the time now. We aren’t allowed to protect our property or ourselves now against these little feral shits because the law is such an arse now they will nick YOU. Almost seems like plod have been ordered to protect THEM instead of us. What the bloody hell is this other than aiding and abetting them and siding with them. They would more than likely be given free legal aid and be allowed to bring a case against the police with a free £2k an hour barrister and the little scummy shits know it.
Somebody tell him to nick some fruit and veg. If he carries on like this he will be diabetic in no time.
I blame social services.If they gave him loads of money he would not need to steal and this would save the police and courts loads of dosh.Win Win situation problem sorted bosh.
The boy is 14 – surely his parents should feed him using child benefits? Just stand in his boots for a minute – would you take a chance on crime or just curl up and starve to death?
Child benefits only just cover my ciggies and mobile phone contract so no money for food .what time does food bank open Wednesday?

Not to mention the braking of a persons windows 3 times, The parents or i should say PARENT. should be held resorbable, she don’t care what he gets up to or what she gets up to for that matter. I cant say any more than that.
Here’s a good cure for little thieving feral shit. Every time he steals some thing, break a finger.By the time he got no fingers left that work to steal things with, he might have learned some thing. Watch this upset the do gooders, who’s fault it is that this type of scum get no proper punishment
