UPDATE WEDNESDAY – 34-year-old William Bushnell, of Preston Close in Ryde, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit.
He will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 12th February 2021.

Probably just be released and will do it again in a weeks time just like the bmw driver that had taken drugs but will probably kill someone next time and then it will be to late.
A tiresome problem only to be eased by jailing all, heavy fines, taking away the car, no excuses.
IF he had killed someone which he clearly could have, then it is only down to luck, not skill, so the sentence should reflect the likely harm, not the luck involved.
If found DUI should be minimum 10 year ban.. even that is weak if a person gets hurt from one of these drivers..
Crush the car and lifetime ban Simples!
Agree but people like that continue to drive without a licence and some even steal cars or drive them with no tax or mot
Crush the car, take away license and a heavy fine – job done!
Instal breath analyser in car – car doesn’t start unless test passed. -use camera to ensure it is actually driver that is taking test – use facial recognition to enable “access to breathalyser system” in car.
tech exists already
sit in car…switch breathalyser on….look into camera – face verified, system enables – face to remain in view, breathe into tube, breath analysed – if passed – ignition system activated – start car.
Too costly and you can bet, anything electronic Ebay, via China will be selling a device to bypass the system.
Harsh punishment of taking car, huge fine, ban for ten years, and jail for three no excuses, is the only way.
Not a chance – no space in jails for that.
there are devices to skim card details at cash points – doesn’t stop ATM being used.
Life time ban for any idiot drivers is the answer, drink, drugs or dangerous driving.
That would make very quiet roads on the island, but safe…
Drink and drug drivers should get a lifetime driving ban also an 18 month prison sentence..
What happened to up before the magistrate in the morning? Is the driver allowed to drive until the 12th Feb? Can the ECHO pls clarify….
The problem is ; the clown prosecution service.
Yes
I would say cut his leg off but he would probably steal an automatic.
Nice to see the usual judges on the echo bench today, just let the justice system do its job, you lot must struggle to get about with those halos above your head having never done a thing wrong in your entire lives!
Does anyone recognize that car? I’ll happily go out and clean out the scum
At least he crashed before killing somone thank god
10 year ban please
Mobile verges now?
Should stay on the black stuff, safer!
What was this guy an Islander! I thought all incidents were main landers!
