Plans to extend the Lidl store in Shanklin have been submitted by the national supermarket chain.
A new window entranceway is proposed for the store on Landguard Manor Road, extending the shop’s lobby area, as well as the introduction of a customer toilet, according to the drawn site plans.
The car park is going to be reconfigured — with the parent and child spaces on the move and a dual charging point for electric vehicles installed.
Trolley bays will also be moved away from the store and across the way, next to the disabled parking.
The chain’s ‘return, reward, recycle’ scheme allows shoppers to earn money off their next shop for recycling their old tins, glass or plastic bottles via a deposit-return scheme, which could be introduced at Shanklin.
You can view the plans, 22/01150/FUL, on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 5th August.

Build one in Ryde or an Aldi ,there’s no competition against Tesco so they can charge what they want !
More good supermarkets will be along soon…
I love Lidl, especially the high quality of there meat,…onwards and upwards…
They SERIOUSLY need to upgrade the NEWPORT store, its dirty, empty shelves, and dirty till areas, toilets always shut and dead plants for sale all the time because they dont water them. We have stopped shopping at Lidl Newport.
