Strings in Newport has been nominated for the Grassroots Venue: Spirit of The Scene Award at this year’s Music Week Awards.
Launched to raise standards across the sector by showcasing top class performance and innovation, the awards are regarded as a badge of excellence within the music industry.
Andy Booth, Co-Owner, has said:
“We are so honored to be mentioned among some of the big players in the UK’s music industry.
“It is one of the long running industry events that comes with a lot of prestige and respect, so it is exciting that we’re going to be part of it.”
BBC Radio 6 Music recently selected the Isle of Wight venue to host legendary presenter Steve Lamacq and his team as part of Independent Venue Week, broadcasting the programme live from the venue.
Andy added:
“It has been an incredible start to 2026. The BBC Music feature was so great for the Isle of Wight and allowed us to show everyone that there is a huge passion for live music down here.”

The Grassroots Venue: Spirit of The Scene Award is now open to a public vote, with the venue calling on Isle of Wight residents to support them against other shortlisted venues.
Votes can be cast at www.musicweekawards.com. Voting closes at 17:00 on Monday (10th March).
The awards ceremony will take place at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on 7th May.
