A 21-year-old shoplifter, who told Police she would steal to order, has admitted nicking more than £500 worth of goods from TK Maxx.
Emma Knight, of Hunnyhill in Newport, admitted 8 counts of theft from a shop, as well as assault by beating and possession of cannabis, when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Tuesday).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell told the court that between 23rd May and 15th August this year, Knight stole from TK Maxx on no fewer than 8 occasions. In total, more than £500 worth of stock was taken from the South Street premises.
On the last of those occasions, Knight was approached by a store worker who attempted to detain her and recover the stolen goods. In response to his suggestions, Knight kicked him in the shin and attempted to throw a punch at him.
When arrested by Police, a small quantity of cannabis was found in Knight’s possession.
The court heard how in interview with Police, the 21-year-old admitted that she would often steal to order.
Defending Knight, Oscar Vincent told the court that the case would benefit from a pre-sentence report and that his clinet had gone some 2-and-a-half years since she was in trouble with the law.
The case was adjourned until 28th November for sentencing.
Move the till to the exits as mentioned before. With the tills no where near near the door, it’s an open invitation to walk out with goods, a shop lifters paradise.

Or at least put the tills in the centre of the store as an island so staff have better visibility of the whole store.
They need to employ security like stores did in the
good old days.
Everytime you walk by the store, or if you are in the store,
the bleeping near the doors is constant.
