American global coffee company, Starbucks, is finally set to open a store on the Isle of Wight, it has been announced.
The long awaited announcement has been made as franchisee 23.5 Degrees plan to open the Island’s first Starbucks coffeehouse in the former Jessops store in St James’ Street, Newport in October of this year.
Starbucks stores are built to reflect the character of the local area, and the unique design of this new store in Newport has retained and celebrated the original townhouse features, including reinstated original fireplaces and the store will also have a bespoke lighting feature. The store has been designed to offer a large open area downstairs including a large community table, with small intimate rooms upstairs, each individually designed to create spaces to relax and unwind.
It has been rumoured for a number of months that Starbucks was planning to come to the Island, at the same time Costa Coffee opened their first Newport store in the former Millets premises.
