A drink driver from East Cowes, who was caught 3 times over the limit, has claimed she was driving to save a friend in crisis.
Parisha Valjee, 54, of Cambridge Road, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to drink driving on Tuesday (19th August), after she was caught behind the wheel having consumed enough alcohol to put her almost 3x over the limit.
On 25th July, Valjee was stopped by police in her Porsche on Wootton’s Kite Hill. At the scene, a roadside breath test was conducted, which returned a positive reading. An evidential breathalyser reading of 98 was later recorded.
Parisha has previously been convicted of drink driving in Glamorgan, Wales back in 2023.
Valjee’s solicitor told the court that his client was behind the wheel because she was responding to an emergency regarding a friend suffering a mental health crisis.
The case was adjourned to allow a special reasons hearing, which will determine whether a driving ban is suitable, to take place on 25th Febuary next year.

Bullshit!!!!!!
Got a Porsche, can afford a taxi, they don’t take long to arrive!
so, no taxis available that day then
she needs be banned as i am calling BS on her excuse
Multiple offenses for dui and they have to discuss if a ban is appropriate? Duh!
Unbelievable, our system is an absolute joke. They are having to discuss what should happen to her, Bloody simple ban her, 3 times over limit and not for the first either
From what I read on National news I know we are living in a
2 tier country, but this is taking the p*ss
There are “NO” excuses for drink driving
special reasons my ar@e, could have killed innocent
persons and made special reasons worse.
Sounds like a case of friends in the right places.
Needs banging up, obviously not learnt from a previous
drink driving conviction.
Too be honest all the drink and drug driving that
takes place on the island is affecting my mental health.
Enough is Enough
I for one do not feel our roads are a safe place!!
The special reasons hearing will probable go against her because there really is no excuse, but in the meantime she gets to keep driving for at least another 6 months maybe longer before she finally gets sentenced.
Sorry, There are no excuses acceptable. Why not call the SPA at st Marys hospital for immediate help with mental health issues?
She should admit that she done wrong and take the punishment.
Drink, and now drug driving, which is even worse should carry harsher penalties. These idiots take up valuable time of emergency services, get them off the road before they end up killing somebody.
this criminal was convicted of drink driving 2 years ago and it has had no effect on its behaviour, it should receive a life ban now as it is a danger to all road users but i bet it gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
Needs banging up.
And the gestapo want to take my license because I am over 70. It has been clean since I learned to drive all these years. They are victimizing the elderly because they know they can’t fight back. Some of the shit driving I see going on, snorted/swilled boy racers, deliberately screeching the tyres, speeding, defying road rules, noisy exhausts made to pop and bang, no insurance. No insurance company would cover these illegal motors, but plod picks on us because we are easy targets. Some priorities and principles need to made here
So true, the Numpties are the younger drivers
they are too busy playing with their phones
whilst driving.
Stupid woman, hopefully they will throw the book at her? They will check her reason for saying she was responding to a friend in crisis! Absolute bullsh..
The law is lax, maybe if such a person killed a
so called elites family member by drink driving
they would finally act.
Not that old chestnut. I heard that story so many times when I was on the bench. Why couldn’t she call either an ambulance for her friend or a taxi for herself. Crush her Porsche. That will make her think twice about drink driving.
All crap as you say but typical of this country now, got a foreign name so you cannot say boo to a goose.
Yea right ! Always excuses excuses you’ve been convicted before love, if it was that important get a taxi before you kill somebody.
Just a thought, but could the name, gender and quality of car hold any clues to why the lady got special treatment for a special reasons hearing, which, as someone pointed out, allows her to go on driving despite it being such an open and shut case?. As someone else said, another example of two tier…or should that be three tier… justice?
This is about as two tier as it gets.
