3 men from Southampton have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of metal from the Seaview area, with the Police now seeking any witnesses.
It is said that on Saturday morning (22 November), 3 men were seen attempting to take copper materials from a private residence.
Officers responded to the upmarket area of Seaview and subsequently stopped a white Transit van.
Following a search of the van, a large amount of copper was discovered, as well as a generator.
A 40-year-old man, a 39-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, all from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and theft. They have since been bailed until February 2026 whilst investigations continue.
The 39-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specific controlled drug above the specified limit and released under investigation.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious between 10:10 and 12:30 in the Seaview area, or from anyone who believes they may have had copper or lead items taken from their address around this time.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who has video footage, including doorbell camera, CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam, which may assist the investigation.
