The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has launched a free online tool to help businesses navigate their way through the transition of the UK leaving the European Union (EU).
The UK Transition Toolkit provides businesses in the Solent with an invaluable review of their current position in a range of key areas including contracts, workforce, cross-border trade, compliance and data protection.
Developed to support businesses based in the Solent area to adjust to the transition of the UK leaving the EU, the toolkit allows firms to create a bespoke report on their current readiness and allows them to benchmark against others in their industry. In doing so it provides tailored information on what actions to take in order to access support for the most needed business areas, including webinars and resources.
The toolkit plays a crucial role in the LEP’s new online UK Transition and Overseas Trade Hub which acts as a central base of information whether you’re self-employed, a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) or a larger business looking to prepare for the changes. The transition period ends on 31st December 2020 and it will affect businesses of all sizes. The UK Transition and Overseas Trade Hub can be found on the LEP website and includes information on important topics such as trading with the EU, preparing for the new rules, a European transition checklist, hiring EU citizens in the UK, and tax to name a few.
Brian Johnson, chair of Solent LEP, said:
“With the EU transition period coming to an end at the end of this year, it is vital that businesses in the region are as prepared as possible for the changes which lie ahead. Not only will there be immediate challenges to overcome but a longer-term strategy will need to be considered at the earliest opportunity.
“With the launch of the Transition Toolkit and the Transition and Overseas Trade Hub, we plan to keep businesses across the Solent informed of everything which could affect them and encourage them to use our tools to ensure their business is as prepared as possible. Our Solent Growth Hub team is also available if any businesses are seeking support or assistance in relation to business planning for the coming months.”
The UK Transition Toolkit has been designed to be completed by members of a company’s management team who will have oversight of all operations. Taking approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, it produces a downloadable report that will inform the development of a road map to transition business operations after the transition period of the UK leaving the EU is over. It will also signpost a range of resources, both locally and nationally, to help the business transition.

Useless, vacuous claptrap. Everything on these sites is based on “no-deal” and a reversion to WTO. Why is that surprising?
But just in case somebody in Westminster wakes up and sees sense, how are we going to know by 01 Jan 2021 what the new rules mean for us and our businesses? Guess what, we’re not. Thanks, Bozo, Farage, Cummings, Rees-Mogg et al. I bet you won’t be suffering.
