A technical issue has once again led to the suspension of Hovertravel’s cross-Solent operation this afternoon (Sunday) – for the forth times in as many weeks.
Solent Flyer has developed a problem which means it is unable to be used to operate the Ryde-Southsea service.
With Island Flyer still away for maintenance at Griffon Hoverwork in Portchester, Hovertravel has been left with no option but to suspend services until further notice.
Technical issues have arisen on 3 of the past 4 weekends, as well as on Friday 5th December.
Hovertravel says that an update is expected at 14:00, but this is not a guarantee that services will resume at that time.
In the meantime, tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head-Portsmouth Harbour.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – Services remain suspended with the next due at 19:00.
UPDATE @ 19:32 – Hovertravel services remain suspended, with an update due at 21:00.
UPDATE @ 20:12 – Services have now resumed as per timetable

Broken again, C’mon Quigley and Robertson, do what YOU promised and sort this debacle out!
Tickets valid on Wightlink until that breaks down.
They couldn’t make a cheese sandwich.
and you couldn’t do their job, thankfully the hundreds of seriously ill patients they have got to the mainland for emergency treatment don’t agree with you or the thousands of passengers who travel yearly
Time to put it out of its misery..
